Program to help youth with autism

In recognition of National Autism Month, the Paso del Norte Health Foundation highlights the PEERS program at New Mexico State University (NMSU)
The Autism Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) is a partnership with the NMSU Papen-Aprendamos Autism Diagnostic Center (ADC). With funding from the Health Foundation’s Mental Health and Emotional Initiative, support is provided to ADC in implementing the PEERS program for at least 50 participants 18 months to 17 years of age who live in Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero counties.

Summer Program Options Available for Children and Youth

The BOOST Network has launched the 2024 “Spring Into Summer” campaign. The campaign is designed to support parents and caregivers in the community by promoting enrollment in quality summer programs offered by the region’s out-of-school time (OST) providers and highlighting the importance of these programs for the overall health development of children and youth.

Health Foundation program team shares funding opportunities with NM organizations

The Health Foundation hosted an information session in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the Burrell College Osteopathic Medicine for nonprofit organizations in Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero Counties. The program team shared the mission of the Health Foundation and the work we do to improve the region’s health in three priority areas: Healthy Living, Disease Prevention and Management, and Health Leadership. PdNCF staffer appointed to Emergence Health Network Board

Congratulations to Kellie Burns-Franco, Director of Development for the Paso del Norte Community Foundation, on being selected to serve on the Emergence Health Network Board of Trustees.
The Emergence Board consists of seven individuals appointed by the County of El Paso and El Paso County Hospital District to serve for two years. Kellie was nominated by the County Judge.

Collaboration and Improvements in the Mental Health and Substance Use Service System for our Community

The El Paso Behavioral Health Consortium (Consortium) gathered at El Paso Community College in March to acknowledge collaborations and improvements in the mental health and substance use service systems for children, youth, and families. Formed to assess the El Paso community’s behavioral health system in anticipation of future service needs and funding trends, the Consortium has been instrumental in driving positive change.

Celebrate Trail Day

Grab your shovels, gloves, and sun protection as we come together to enhance the Paso del Norte Trail and beautify our community. In celebration of Celebrate Trails Day, 25 trees were donated by Eastside Discount Nursery to be planted along the Playa Drain Trail from Mimosa Avenue to Durill Road.
“Celebrate Trails Day: Planting Roots with the Community” will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 8:30 AM, at 7499 Mimosa Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79915. Parking is available at Cedar Grove Pond Park and Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
