Sharon Butterworth recipient of the Mental Health America of Texas - 2017 Texas Impact Award

Please join the Board and Staff of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation in congratulating Ms. Sharon Butterworth, Health Foundation Board Vice Chair and Mental Health Advocate, on being the recipient of the Mental Health America of Texas - 2017 Texas Impact Award.

Sharon works tirelessly to eliminate the negative bias surrounding mental illness and to transform health systems in the State of Texas and within the Paso del Norte region. In addition to serving on the Foundation Board, Sharon also Chairs the El Paso Behavioral Health Consortium’s Executive Committee, the Brain Trust, and serves on the boards Southwestern Children’s Home Trust, and J. Edward and Helen M. C. Stern Foundation. She is the former Chair of Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services and former Vice Chair of Texas Department of MHMR. She is a member of the University of Texas at El Paso Development Board and Pan American Round Table of El Paso

Mental Health America of Texas will recognize Sharon for her great contributions to improving mental health and substance use systems. Mental Health America of Texas is the state’s longest-serving mental health education and advocacy group.

Their mission is to “transform the systems that promote mental health, prevent mental disorders and substance abuse, and achieve recovery from mental illness and addictions through innovative education, advocacy and services.”
