The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southern New Mexico is making significant strides in expanding mental health services across rural southern New Mexico thanks, in part, to a grant from the Paso del Norte Health Foundation. This funding has enabled NAMI to extend its reach and support communities with scarce mental health resources. Health Foundation awards 13 grants totaling more than $1.7M under Diabetes Initiative

In El Paso, the prevalence of diabetes outpaces the national numbers, with an estimated 15.3 percent of adults, or about 94,000 adults, living with diabetes.
The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded 13 grants totaling more than $1.7 million under the Disease Prevention & Management priority area to implement initiatives and programs for diabetes prevention, early detection, and management in the region.
