New mapping tools to help connect school-aged youth with available out of school programs

The Health Foundation is excited to share an interactive mapping tool to help community organizations, schools and local leaders understand the availability of out of school programs for school aged youth in the Paso del Norte region.
Developed by the Health Foundation as part of the IGNITE Initiative, the maps illustrate of out of school programs along with census population data for youth ages 7-18 by in El Paso county and Doña Ana, Luna, and Otero counties in New Mexico. Data is also available by youth population ages 6-17 in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to invite eligible agencies to submit letters of intent (LOIs) under the Health Foundation’s Think.Change initiative. After LOI review, selected agencies will be invited to submit a full proposal. Eligible applicants include nonprofit tax-exempt organizations, including churches and units of government, located in the Paso del Norte Region. Melanie Anaya joins the Health Foundation staff

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to welcome Melanie Anaya as the new Director of Accounting. Ms. Anaya is responsible for operation of financial and bookkeeping services. This includes preparation of financial analyses, income and expense reports, budgets, governmental reports and directing payroll. She also services as the liaison between the Health Foundation’s IT contractor and staff.
A native of El Paso, Melanie graduated from UTEP with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and has over seven years of accounting experience. In her spare time, she enjoys spending it with…

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation (Health Foundation) is pleased to announce a partnership with the City of El Paso and El Paso Water to build a linear trail on the Playa Drain in south central El Paso.
The City of El Paso approved a Donation, Development and License Agreement authorizing the Health Foundation to design and construct a 3.4 linear trail on the Playa Drain from Ascarate Park to Riverside High School (map attached). Female college athletes work with school age students to stay active

Hillrise Elementary School is a short five- to eight-minute drive from the campus of New Mexico State University. Twice a week, female student athletes from the campus make the trek to Hillrise to work with 50 or so grade-school girls to improve their physical activity.
The program is called “Aggie Play,” and it’s creating buzz under the Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) initiative.
