Bowie High School Community Garden featured by Salud America!

The Bowie High School Community Garden (BHS Garden) project is one of six programs in the country featured by Salud America! as Salud Heroes vs. Sugar. Jon Law named new Executive Director for Paso del Norte Health Information Exchange

The Paso del Norte Health Information Exchange’s (HIE) board of directors today announced the appointment of Jon Law as the Executive Director of the HIE.

The Paso del Norte Foundation will sponsor the 2016 Paso del Norte Foundation Challenge Fund Program which seeks to: - increase the capacity of nonprofit organizations to improve health, and - inspire charitable giving by offering matching funds for a wide-range of challenge fund events and appeals.

Proposals for participation in the Challenge Fund Program must be received by the Foundation via e-mail by 12:00 pm on Friday, January 29th.

For years, Luna County has had an active health council and strong coalition focused on reducing substance use among young people. That long-standing commitment from local law enforcement, public health and other community advocates paved the way for Luna County to adopt the first Social Host Ordinance in the Paso del Norte region.

Social Host Ordinance takes effect in Luna County

January 7, 2016

Members of the Shift + network are celebrating as Luna County’s Board of Commissioners unanimously passed a Social Host Ordinance that will allow law enforcement to cite individuals of a gathering where underage drinking occurs.

Shift+ is an initiative of the Paso del Norte Health Foundation and has been working with individuals from the U.S./Mexico border to reduce underage drinking and binge drinking of all ages in the Paso del Norte region.

Cristina Arias joins the Foundation as Director of Accounting and IT

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation is pleased to welcome Cristina Arias as the new Director of Accounting and IT.

Ms. Arias will oversee the financial and bookkeeping services, preparation of financial statements and analysis budgets, governmental reports and payroll. She will also serve as the liaison between the Foundation’s IT contractor and staff.

Ms. Arias has over eight years of accounting and management experience. She holds a bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at El Paso.
