Working to build healthy conversations about sexuality among youth

There is an important transformation taking place in Ciudad Juárez around a subject many adults have difficulty addressing with their adolescent children – how to lead healthy sexual lives.

The Paso del Norte Foundation Board of Directors announced the appointment of Anna Alemán as the new Executive Director for the Paso del Norte Foundation (PDNF), a public charity established in 2013 by the Paso del Norte Health Foundation to increase the resources available to improve well-being in the Paso del Norte region.

PdN HIE achieves highest level of data security accreditation

The Paso del Norte Health Information Exchange, PDN HIE, announced today it has achieved full accreditation with the Texas Health Information Exchange Accreditation Program (TX-HIEAP) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) and the Texas Health Services Authority (THSA). Texas HIE Accreditation ensures HIEs within Texas are inter-operable with state and federal programs, and provide the private, secure and proper exchange of health information in accordance with established laws and public policy.

The 2016 Las Cruces Pride celebration held on June 22 marked its third straight year as a smoke-free event thanks to the work of Families and Youth, Inc. and A Smoke Free Paso del Norte.

Families and Youth, Inc. (FYI) has been providing tobacco prevention and education in Doña Ana County since 1995, and one of its biggest victories came in 2014 when it convinced Las Cruces Pride celebration organizers to make the entire event tobacco-free.

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation recently awarded five grants totaling more than $666 thousand under the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Priority Area – A Smoke Free Paso del Norte initiative.
